Week 22
John McCain - He and other goverment leaders came to Baghdad. |
Stones Throw Some days I drive to a section of Baghdad were I think Saddam Hussien is being housed. I think it is interesting being merely 100 yards from the former dictator. Though I don't know exactly were he is, I doubt that even if I knew I could ever get closer than the road. Another leader that I got a lot closer to was Senator John McCain. The Arizona presidential candidate came to Baghdad to talk with Iraq leaders and greet hundreds of troops that flocked to him. On the outside, he seemed like an old man, but once surround by a mass of Soldiers just hoping to shake his hand, he was full of energy. An old veteran at the game, he posed for photos and signed autographs until everyone was satisfied. It was nice to see a politician take the time. Both John Kerry and Dick Cheney came for the media photo op, while McCain and Alabama's Governor Bob Riley were more focused on the small digital cameras of the servicemen around them. Speaking of digital cameras, I have a new video camera. A small one that I bought off of EBay and is probably stolen. Though I know very little about video, I hope to capture some of the glorious moments of my time here. My goal is to film someone blowing up, but most likely I'll return with cheesy movies.
